JAMB Releases 2025 UTME Results as over 75% of Candidates Score Below 200

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the official results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), revealing a sharp decline in candidate performance.
According to statistical data published by the examination body on Monday, out of the 1,955,069 candidates who participated in the 2025 UTME, more than 1.5 million scored below the 200 mark.

Only 420,415 candidates managed to attain scores above 200, while less than one per cent of all candidates scored over 300, JAMB reported. The Board’s analysis indicates that approximately 75% of the total candidates fell below the 200-point threshold.

JAMB further disclosed that 2,157 candidates are under investigation for alleged examination malpractice. This includes some candidates who encountered biometric verification issues during the examination process. The Board added that those found innocent will be rescheduled to sit for the exam at designated centres.

In addition, 40,247 underage candidates were granted permission to participate under the exceptional ability category. However, only 467 of these candidates, representing 1.16%, met the required benchmark for exceptional performance. These individuals will proceed to the next three stages of assessment to determine their eligibility for tertiary admission.

JAMB reported that 71,701 candidates were absent from the examination. The Board also noted that results for some categories of candidates—specifically the visually impaired and those in the JEOG group—are still being processed.
