Some Alumni of The Polytechnic of Ibadan have started expressing their utmost displeasure as Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde changes the name of the tertiary Institution.
Seyi Makinde, the two-time governor of the state, changes the school name from the usual, The Polytechnic of Ibadan, to Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan.
Gov Seyi Makinde makes this know to the entire public while delivering a speech inside the school in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo, State, Nigeria.
Recall that Omololu Olunloyo was a short-lived governor. He won the 1983 governorship of old Oyo State on the NPN ticket and held office from October to December 1983 before the military coup d'état.
Olunloyo passed away on April 6, 2025, at the age of 89, just over a week before what would have been his 90th birthday on April 14.
However, some alumni of The Polytechnic of Ibadan have taken to social media to disagree with the Governor over the new name of the University.
